Job summary

The City of Norfolk's Department of Human Services seeks a Family Services Supervisor for the Child Protective Services unit. The role plans, monitors, evaluates, and supervises daily activities of Family Services staff and oversees CPS/In-Home and Family Support units, while developing program guidelines and monitoring service delivery.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Human Services (or 2 years related experience with a Bachelor's in any field), with supervisory experience

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of Child Protective Services and related policies.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; basic computer skills including data entry and MS Office.
• Excellent interdepartmental collaboration and team-building experience.

Responsibilities

• Supervises the daily work of Family Services staff and CPS/In-Home and Family Support units.
• Monitors service delivery and progress; reviews court plans.
• Develops program guidelines and monitors service delivery.
• Assigns casework to staff; reviews referrals and maintains case management records.
• Represents the program at meetings and completes related duties.
• Assists in recruiting, hiring and retaining qualified staff.
• As CPS leadership team, participates in regional and state meetings.
• Conducts quarterly, semi-annual and annual employee performance reviews.
• Establishes relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve goals.
• Collaborates with community agencies, Norfolk Police Department, court systems and interagency groups.
