Job summary

SCI in Salem, Oregon seeks a Family Service Counselor to serve client families by arranging at-need cemetery needs and selling pre-need plans. You will be the primary contact, delivering exemplary service and helping generate revenue for the location.

You will generate leads, build trusted relationships with families, handle inquiries with empathy, coordinate with funeral directors and staff, and ensure smooth appointments and follow-through to secure referrals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1-2 years of college or education and experience.
• 1-2 years of customer service or sales experience preferred.
• Current state driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Insurance license if required by state/province law.
• Able to work evenings and some weekends.
• Empathy and respect in interactions.
• Knowledge of computers and some software.

Responsibilities

• Lead generation: prospecting daily and obtaining referrals.
• Explain and present information to families served and referred families.
• Build relationships with families through listening and care.
• Respond to inquiries promptly and maintain professionalism.
• Collaborate with funeral directors and location managers.
• Prepare for appointments and follow through on customer requests.
• Support seamless service from at-need to future protection.
