The Arlington Elementary School in New York City is seeking a dedicated Parent Coordinator to engage with parents and families and to foster strong community involvement. The role requires collaboration with the principal, school staff, leadership teams, parent associations and community groups to ensure inclusive participation.

You will create a welcoming environment, identify community issues, and work with the principal to address them promptly, coordinating events as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree candidates with two years in community work preferred or equivalent with four years experience.
• High school diploma with six years related experience also acceptable.
• Bilingual ability preferred for non-English speaking communities.
• Excellent communication, organizational and problem-solving skills required.
• Experience with convening workshops desirable.

Responsabilités

• Increase parent involvement by working with school, parent and community organizations.
• Facilitate parent and school community concerns and issues (policies, facilities, etc.).
• Conduct outreach to engage parents in their children’s education.
• Convene regular parent meetings and events on key topics for parents.
• Attend parent meetings with the principal when appropriate.
• Assist in establishing by-laws and elections for the parent association per regulations.
• Serve as liaison to central and field-based parent support staff.
• Maintain contact with community organizations serving the school’s programs.
• Organize back-to-school and other events to welcome parents and communities.
