Job summary

NYC Public Schools seeks a Family Leadership Coordinator to support parent leadership and community engagement across district and school levels. You will collaborate with PA/PTAs, SLTs, DLTs, Title I Committees, and CEC members to strengthen family involvement and leadership.

Reporting to the Superintendent and working with cross‑functional teams, you will design trainings, coordinate outreach, track feedback, and help implement governance practices to improve student success district‑wide.

Qualifications

• A baccalaureate degree and two years of community work or related experience, or equivalent combination.
• Two additional years of relevant work experience beyond the minimum requirements.

Responsibilities

• Create a welcoming and professional office environment for families.
• Support governance regulations and district committees, including hearings and attendance management.
• Provide training to school and district parent leadership structures (PA/PTAs, SLTs, DLTs, Title I Committees, District Presidents’ Council).
• Develop and implement strategies to strengthen family involvement district-wide.
• Coordinate community outreach with school staff to reach families effectively.
• Serve as district liaison to NYCPS offices on community concerns and requests.
• Represent the district in family meetings, workshops and events.
• Collaborate with internal offices to implement NYCPS initiatives in schools.
• Gather and share family feedback with leadership to drive community-based initiatives.
• Lead district and school community family information and action efforts.
