Job summary

Nycenet is seeking a Parent Coordinator for P.S. 15 Patrick F. Daly School in New York City.

The role reports to the principal and works with staff, parent groups, and community partners to involve families in the school community and address English-language and other access needs. The position focuses on creating a welcoming environment, coordinating parent meetings, and connecting families with services while aligning with Chancellor’s Regulation A-660.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience in community work or related duties (preferred)
• Associate degree or equivalent and four years of experience in community work (alternative)
• High school diploma and six years of experience in community work (alternative)

Responsibilities

• Increases parent involvement by working with school, parent and community organizations
• Serves as facilitator for parent and school community concerns, including policies or facilities issues
• Conducts outreach to engage parents in their children’s education
• Convenes regular parent meetings and events on topics of concern to parents
• Attends parent meetings with the principal when appropriate
• Coordinates with the school parent association to establish by-laws, elections, and related activities per Chancellor’s Regulation A-660
• Serves as liaison to Central and Field-based parent support staff
• Maintains contact with community organizations involved with the school’s educational program
• Organizes back-to-school and other events to welcome parents and increase involvement
