Job summary

The Salvation Army Southern California is seeking a dedicated Janitor to maintain the cleanliness of the Long Beach Red Shield Community Center. You will sweep, mop, dust, and clean facilities, restrooms, and entrances, and assist with event setups and decorations.

Role requires a driver’s license, ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, and a commitment to safety and the mission of The Salvation Army. Background check is required.

Qualifications

• Driver’s license required.
• At least two years cleaning or related field experience.
• Able to work independently yet as part of a team.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Maturity in judgement and crisis intervention skills.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to work with minimum supervision.
• Must align with The Salvation Army mission and function accordingly.
• Must pass FBI/DOJ background check.

Responsibilities

• Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
• Gather and empty wastebaskets.
• Remove all donations from the front lobby before 8:00am.
• Service, clean, and supply restrooms.
• Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
• Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
• Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies.
• Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, scaffolding for events.
• Spray insecticides and fumigants to prevent infestation.
• Notify supervisor of major repairs or additions needed.
• Requisition supplies and equipment for cleaning and maintenance.
