Job summary

The Salvation Army Southern California is seeking a Maintenance staff member to perform housekeeping and grounds maintenance at Lafayette, ensuring a clean, safe environment for residents and staff and keeping floors ready for community needs.

This role requires high school or equivalent, a valid California Class C license, English proficiency, and at least one year of housekeeping/grounds maintenance experience; ability to work with minimal supervision and a clean driving record.

Qualifications

• High School education or equivalent.
• Valid Class C California Driver's License.
• Must be able to speak, read, and write in English.
• Minimum one year experience in housekeeping and grounds maintenance.
• Able to work with minimum supervision.
• A driving record without any moving violation in the last five years.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean, safe and hygienic environment for residents and staff.
• Sweep and mop entry hallways daily and pressure wash entrances.
• Strip, buff and wax floors where needed.
• Turn over vacant units, including painting and minor repairs.
• Maintain inventory of janitorial/maintenance supplies.
• Perform basic plumbing and electrical tasks around the premises.
• Weed and prune landscaping; plant as needed.
• Report inappropriate behavior on grounds to program manager.
• Transport residents to appointments as needed; maintain vehicles.
• Conduct monthly fire drills and update shelter logs.
• Provide maintenance/housekeeping for Community Integration Services Program.
