Job summary

University of the District of Columbia is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic (Locksmith) to perform skilled locksmith, mechanical, and general maintenance work in support of the university’s facilities and physical plant operations. You will install, repair, maintain, and replace locks and door hardware, and perform preventive and corrective maintenance on building systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED. Minimum three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in locksmith services, facilities maintenance, or building maintenance.
• Demonstrated knowledge of commercial locksets, key systems, door hardware, and mechanical repair techniques.
• Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Locksmith services & door hardware maintenance: installation, repair, maintenance, adjustment, and replacement of locks and hardware.
• Preventive & corrective building maintenance on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC and related systems.
• Install, repair, and modify building fixtures, piping systems, and equipment; operate power tools safely.
• Inspection, troubleshooting & safety compliance for building systems and equipment; maintain OSHA standards.
• Customer service, work order management & after-hours support; document labor and materials.
