Job summary

Seattle Central College is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic- Locksmith to join the Facilities and Plant Operations team in Seattle. You will lead locksmithing work, manage key control, and perform journey-level maintenance across multiple trades to keep campus facilities safe and functional.

The role emphasizes securing access, repairing systems, and supporting renovations, with a 40-hour week, typically Mon-Fri 6:00AM–2:30PM, on-site. Union represented position under WFSE.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Four or more years in building/equipment maintenance or an apprenticeship in a skilled trade.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair, re-key, maintain, and troubleshoot locking systems and access controls.
• Manage key control systems including issuance, tracking, and security.
• Inspect and troubleshoot locking systems and access control equipment.
• Perform journey-level maintenance on buildings, equipment, and infrastructure; include plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and structural work.
• Conduct preventive maintenance and diagnose complex issues affecting building systems.
• Monitor safety, fire protection, and environmental control issues; take corrective action as needed.
• Support renovation, construction, and improvement projects with skilled trades.
• Operate and maintain hand/power tools and welding equipment; fabricate as needed.
• Read blueprints and technical drawings; develop cost estimates and practical solutions.
• Provide technical leadership to maintenance staff to ensure quality workmanship.
