Job summary

Thurston County is seeking a Facilities Technician II to join the Facilities Services Team. You will perform hands-on maintenance and repair of building systems, including electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and security systems, with emphasis on safety and customer service. The role requires troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and coordination with vendors.

Schedule is Monday–Thursday, 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Travel to county properties is daily; essential personnel may work during non-business

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED is required; vocational training in building maintenance is preferred and may substitute for one year of work experience.
Three years of building equipment/systems maintenance and operation experience, including one year with controls; two years with major mechanical equipment and electrical repairs.

Responsibilities

Identify, troubleshoot, test, and diagnose problems with building systems and components.
Set and adjust parameters within computer software for fire monitoring, DDC, or security systems.
Perform preventive maintenance, periodic confidence testing, and repairs on major equipment.
Direct the work of others on facilities projects or participate as a working crew member on larger projects.
