Job summary

Snohomish County Facilities & Fleet Department is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Technician III to keep county facilities in excellent condition. You will handle carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC tasks, perform preventive maintenance, and respond to building issues efficiently.

The role emphasizes safety, ability to troubleshoot, and teamwork in a fast-paced county environment. Successful candidates will have several years of experience and a commitment to high-quality upkeep.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of skilled building maintenance experience or equivalent training.
• Ability to perform carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC tasks.
• Must pass job-related tests and background checks.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of building repairs such as repairing or replacing baseboard molding, ceiling and floor tile, doors, locks and windows, patching leaking roofs and similar work.
• Perform a variety of rough and finish carpentry work including remodeling structures and construction of new casework.
• Hang and/or repair paneling, plasterboard and other drywall materials; tape, spackle and sand drywall and prepare it for painting.
• Paint interior and exterior building surfaces, fixtures and furniture; prepare surfaces for painting and apply coatings as required.
• Perform minor electrical repairs such as replacing or repairing fixtures, outlets or switches under supervision.
• Troubleshoot basic electronic components and service HVAC units and related mechanical equipment.
• Install, maintain and repair plumbing fixtures and systems including faucets and sinks.
• Weld various objects including rails and boiler plate using arc welder.
• Inspect and service gas and electrical appliances in a large institutional kitchen.
