Job summary

The City of South Padre Island is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support the South Padre Island Convention Centre under the Facilities Director. The role covers housekeeping, routine maintenance, event setup, and vendor coordination to ensure smooth operations of a busy venue.

Candidates should have at least a high school diploma with HVAC or electrical coursework and one year of maintenance experience; bilingual Spanish/English is preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent with coursework in HVAC or electrical systems.
• One (1) year of related maintenance experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• A valid state driver’s license.
• Bilingual: Spanish and English preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform general housekeeping, maintenance, and event setup for the convention centre.
• Set up, break down, and changeover of furniture, staging and equipment for events.
• Coordinate with vendors for tables, lighting, and other needs.
• Operate lifts and transport equipment as needed.
• Maintain inventories and supplies; keep accurate records.
• Work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
