Job summary

City of South Padre Island is seeking a Maintenance Technician under the Facilities Director to handle housekeeping, maintenance and event support at the convention centre.

You will operate lifts, forklifts, set up events, manage inventories, and coordinate with HVAC vendors, while maintaining safety and record-keeping.

A high school diploma with HVAC/electrical coursework and 1 year maintenance experience are required; bilingual Spanish/English preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma with HVAC or electrical coursework.
• 1 year of related maintenance experience or equivalent.
• Valid state driver’s license.
• Bilingual Spanish and English preferred.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.

Responsibilities

• Complete assigned work within specified time frames.
• Maintain good relationships with coworkers, customers and guests.
• Set up, break down, and changeover furniture and equipment for events.
• Operate lifts and transport equipment as needed.
• Maintain inventories and records of supplies.
• Work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Coordinate with HVAC representatives and maintain HVAC records.
• Ensure safe and clean work environment.
• Assist with decontamination when flipping facility for new groups.
• Connect phones and electrical lines for vendors when requested.
• Set up basketball courts, stadium bleachers and volleyball floors.
• Check and run fire pump monthly.
• Operate forklift for loading/unloading; use high lift for maintenance.
• Perform shipping and receiving duties.
