Job summary

The City of South Padre Island seeks a Parks Maintenance Technician to perform semi-skilled maintenance on parks equipment, landscaping and irrigation systems, and to operate a range of machinery as needed. You will inspect and repair playgrounds and restrooms, mow, paint and perform preventive maintenance, drive trucks, and work safely with crews.

A high school diploma, three years of related experience, and a valid Texas driver's license are required; bilingual Spanish/English preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Three (3) years of related work experience.
• Valid state driver’s license.
• Bilingual: Spanish and English preferred.
• Knowledge of landscaping, irrigation, and maintenance methods.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and repair playground equipment to ensure safety.
• Inspect, clean and repair park restrooms.
• Maintain irrigation systems and landscaping/lawn care.
• Mow, trim, and trash removal for park grounds.
• Paint and perform rust protection on equipment and facilities.
