Job summary

The City of South Padre Island seeks a Maintenance Technician to perform varied semi-skilled maintenance, construction and repair tasks for streets, drainage facilities and related systems.

Responsibilities include inspections, sign installation, equipment maintenance, operation of power tools, road work and beach area upkeep. CDL preferred; bilingual Spanish/English helpful; HS diploma required; valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of related maintenance experience.
• CDL preferred; valid state driver's license required.
• Bilingual Spanish and English preferred.
• Knowledge of maintenance, construction and repair procedures.

Responsibilities

• Inspects and repairs streets and drainage systems to ensure proper function.
• Installs and repairs street signs.
• Operates a range of power construction and maintenance equipment.
• Performs preventive maintenance on assigned equipment.
• Cleans streets and maintains public spaces.
• Supports safety and security standards.
• Assists with landscaping and beach area maintenance.
