City of South Padre Island is seeking a Maintenance Technician under the Facilities Director to handle housekeeping, maintenance and event support at the convention centre.
You will operate lifts, forklifts, set up events, manage inventories, and coordinate with HVAC vendors, while maintaining safety and record-keeping.
A high school diploma with HVAC/electrical coursework and 1 year maintenance experience are required; bilingual Spanish/English preferred.

Under the general supervision of the Facilities Director, the Maintenance Technician is responsible for the general housekeeping, maintenance and event needs of the South Padre Island Convention Centre.
Forklift; high lift; buffer machine; handsaw; broom and mop; telephone; power tools such as skill saw and drills; hand tools such as open-end wrenches, sockets sets, pipe wrenches, etc.

Work environment is normally located inside an air-conditioned office, although at times the employee will be required to be in outside conditions for periods of time throughout the day where the employee may be exposed to extreme heat, cold, wet, windy or humid conditions. The employee is at times exposed to fumes or airborne particles and occasionally exposed to the risk of electrical shock. The storage area for collateral materials and displays is located upstairs where the employee may experience exposure to dusty and very loud noises. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet or very noisy depending on the events.
