Job summary

JP McHale Pest Management is seeking a Facilities Specialist for a part-time schedule in Buchanan, NY. The role supports daily maintenance, safety, and operational efficiency, with pay $27–$34 per hour depending on experience (DOE).

Hours: Monday–Friday, 8 am–2 pm, reporting to the VP of Operations. The successful candidate will handle repairs, vendor coordination, climate control maintenance, and ensure compliance with internal policies and regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 2-5 years of building maintenance experience in a professional setting.
• HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or general contractor certifications are a plus.
• Intermediate skills in HVAC, painting, electrical, plumbing, welding and tool use.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates repair and maintenance work by vendors and contractors for building upkeep.
• Reviews work orders to ensure completion.
• Handles daily office repairs, painting, carpentry, and light plumbing or electrical tasks.
• Monitors climate control settings and coordinates preventive maintenance.
• Distributes and replenishes office supplies and maintenance tools.
• Maintains a clean, safe, and productive environment for staff.
• Oversees preventive maintenance schedules and regular facility inspections.
• Ensures repairs comply with internal policies and external regulations (EPA, OSHA, etc.).
• Manages vendor relationships and trains vendors on work order and billing procedures.
• Obtains quotes for parts, services, and labor; recommends equipment purchases.
• Ensures facilities and equipment are ready for regular business and events.
• Inspects and maintains assigned equipment and facilities.
• Completes auditable records: packing slips, pick lists, job close out paperwork.
• Delivers materials to job sites and uses the system to issue/receive materials.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.

Facilities Specialist - Part Time

Position Overview

The Facilities Specialist oversees the daily maintenance, safety, and operational efficiency of all organizational facilities, physical assets, and equipment. This role ensures a seamless, safe, and well-maintained environment for employees and visitors while driving process improvements and managing vendor relationships.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinates repair and maintenance work assignments performed by vendors and contractors performing building maintenance, landscaping and janitorial work.
• Reviews work orders to ensure that assignments are completed.
• Handle daily office repairs, painting, carpentry, and light plumbing or electrical tasks.
• Monitor climate control settings and coordinate preventative maintenance for all central building systems.
• Distribute and replenish corporate office supplies, kitchen stock, and facility maintenance tools.
• Ensures and maintains a clean, safe and productive environment for staff.
• Oversees schedules for preventative maintenance and ensures that facilities are inspected regularly to identify current and potential maintenance needs.
• Ensures repairs comply with internal policies and external regulations [EPA, OSHA, NATEF, ACCSC etc.].
• Manages vendor relationships and trains vendors on work order and billing procedures.
• Obtains and reviews price quotes for the procurement of parts, services, and labor for projects.
• Provides recommendations for purchases of new equipment.
• Ensures assigned facilities and equipment are ready for regular business and special events.
• Inspects and performs maintenance on assigned equipment and facilities.
• Complete auditable records: packing slips, pick lists, job close out paperwork.
• Deliver materials to job sites when needed.
• Use computer software system to issue and receive material.
• Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 2-5 years of experience in building maintenance including a skilled trade required.
• Licensed and/or certified in one or more of the following areas is preferred; HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or general contractor skills a plus.
• Intermediate level in functional skills; HVAC, painting, electrical, plumbing, welding, safe use of power and hand tools.
• Ability to work well with others in a collaborative team environment.
