Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in Sanford, NC is seeking a Facilities Engineer to partner with SMDC leaders to plan and execute facility improvements ensuring safe, reliable operations. You will manage scopes, budgets, and closeouts while coordinating with vendors, engineers, and campus maintenance to minimize disruption.

The role emphasizes 5S, asset management, and continuous improvement within a manufacturing context, requiring strong communication and problem-solving skills. On-site, with minimal travel.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in facilities, maintenance, engineering, construction, project coordination, or a related field.
• Experience executing facility repairs, infrastructure improvements, or capital and expense projects in a manufacturing, industrial, testing, or product-development environment.
• Experience developing scopes of work, coordinating contractors and stakeholders, and managing project schedules and costs.
• Working knowledge of purchasing, work-order systems, preventive maintenance, asset management, 5S, facility reporting, Office products.

Responsibilities

• Identify, prioritize, and execute capital and expense-funded improvements in collaboration with SMDC leaders and stakeholders.
• Manage scope, schedules, estimates, spending, risks, documentation, implementation, and closeout.
• Coordinate facility work around Engineering, Prove Design, testing, and Endurance activities to minimize disruption and support business priorities.
• Coordinate facility-related 5S improvements and manage applicable supplies, materials, spare parts, and assets to support reliable operations.
• Ensure work complies with safety, environmental, security, purchasing, and contractor requirements; communicate status, spending, risks, and open actions.
