Job summary

The New York City Department of Consumer and Worker Protection seeks a General Services Manager to oversee facilities, mail, fleet and health/safety administration across agency locations. You will guide upgrades, perform inspections, and coordinate with vendors to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operations.

Responsibilities include planning maintenance, managing supplies, and supervising related activities.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree and five years of full-time paid experience in space planning, building standards, leasing procedures, and related areas, with supervisory experience.
• High school diploma or GED with 9 years of related experience, plus supervisory experience.
• Equivalent combination acceptable with high school diploma and supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Assess upgrade and maintenance needs with detailed plans, quotes, timelines, and costs.
• Conduct daily on-site inspections of contracted cleaning services.
• Perform light to moderate repairs as needed.
• Monitor first aid kits, fire extinguishers, and alarm systems.
• Coordinate mailing requests and fleet coordination as needed.
• Oversee building services/vendors for upgrades and repairs.
• Move equipment for cubicle relocations and decommission surplus items.
• Maintain warehouse inventory and coordinate item transportation.
• Organize supply room and ensure stock across divisions.
• Record and verify deliveries and distribute supplies as required.
• Provide back-up support for other units as needed.
