Job summary

Nordstrom is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician I to help deliver a safe, well-maintained store environment in the Edison, NJ area. Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and at least 1 year related experience/training.
• Ability to understand directions and follow procedures as directed by Facilities Manager/lead Technician.
• Effective communication with all levels; written and verbal.
• Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and off-hours support may be required.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
• Detail-oriented with high accuracy.
• Entry level proficiency with power tools; willingness to learn.
• General understanding of mechanical components and processes.
• Proficiency using PC or Laptop for work order system, email, and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day preventive maintenance and on-demand requests; keep records.
• Conduct daily inspections and building rounds.
• Assist with basic repairs: plumbing, electrical, HVAC, roofs, and fixtures.
• Maintain lighting systems; replace bulbs and fixtures.
• Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and diagrams for troubleshooting.
• Perform manual labor such as lifting and moving materials.
• Follow manuals and safety procedures; read circuit diagrams.
• Respond to emergencies; escalate when needed.
