Job summary

SPEARFISHCANYON in is seeking a maintenance worker to manage grounds, facility, and equipment ensuring safety and efficiency according to regulations and policies. You will follow maintenance schedules and coordinate with nursing services for resident areas.

The role includes performing routine repairs (plumbing, electrical, carpentry), servicing HVAC, replacing lights, and maintaining clean, well‑kept spaces while protecting resident confidentiality and safety.

Qualifications

• Must possess, as a minimum, a 10th grade education.
• Must possess the ability to make independent decisions, to follow instructions, and to accept constructive criticism.
• Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
• Maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc., and maintain the appearance of maintenance work areas.
• Ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing maintenance practices.
• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain grounds, facility, equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
• Ensure that maintenance schedules are followed as outlined for respective shift or area.
• Report all accidents/incidents to your supervisor no matter how minor they may be.
• Coordinate daily maintenance services with nursing services when performing routine assignments in resident living areas.
• Perform routine maintenance on grounds, parking areas, driveways, etc., by cutting, trimming, policing, sweeping, etc., as necessary/directed.
• Perform routine maintenance and repair on the facility and equipment to include plumbing, plastering, electrical, carpentry, mechanical, etc., as directed, in accordance with established procedures.
• Service heating and cooling units/systems, as specified by the manufacturer, and in compliance with established policies and procedures
• Follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies.
• Assist others in lifting heavy equipment, supplies, etc., as directed or requested
• Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information including protected health information.
