Qualifications

Job description

The Facilities Assistant is responsible for all areas related to the oversight and maintenance of Lifelong’s facilities, grounds, and equipment. This position requires discretion and independent judgment. The Facilities Assistant reports to the Facilities Manager. This is a regular, full-time, non-exempt, union position.

Essential Duties
  1. Respond to maintenance requests, including painting, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, drywall, lighting, carpet/flooring cleaning, pressure washing, and light vehicle maintenance.
  2. Maintain accuracy and efficiency in handling maintenance requests and ensure facilities tickets are updated.
  3. Inspect facilities, grounds, and equipment regularly; coordinate repairs as needed.
  4. Support the Facilities Manager in maintaining security and infrastructure.
  5. Perform grounds cleanup, litter removal, leaf-blowing, and snow removal seasonally.
  6. Organize tools, equipment, and workspaces.
  7. Assist with office, cubicle, and furniture moving, and kitchen setup/removal.
  8. Serve as backup for alarm systems and after-hours emergencies; participate in on-call rotations.
  9. Provide excellent customer service to internal and external clients.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, lighting, and painting systems.
  • Experience with power and hand tools, safety protocols.
  • Understanding of carpentry, drywall, and painting principles.
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Organization and prioritization abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities.
  • Effective communication and professional demeanor.
  • Basic MS Office skills.
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years in facility maintenance or related field.
  • Availability for on-call and after-hours work.
  • Valid Washington State Driver’s License.
Work Environment
  • Hybrid model: office and field work in Seattle.
  • COVID-19 safety measures, including vaccination proof required.
