Job description

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Landscape and Facilities Assistant at Olympic Sculpture Park is responsible for maintaining park grounds and facilities, with an emphasis on gardening needs.

FSLA STATUS

Non-Exempt

REPORTS TO

Senior Manager, Facilities and Landscape, Olympic Sculpture Park

COMPENSATION

$22.45 - $22.65 / hour

WORK SCHEDULE

This role typically works from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Sunday through Thursday. Flexibility in schedule is required to support departmental or organizational needs as directed by your supervisor.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Park Maintenance
  • Participate in daily park operations, including planning, coordination, and horticultural and artistic maintenance.
  • Maintain landscape integrity, including pruning, removal of non-native species, and planting.
  • Perform groundskeeping duties, including weed control, irrigation, and debris removal.
  • Operate gardening tools and power equipment safely.
Facilities Maintenance
  • Ensure proper maintenance of all park facilities and equipment.
  • Perform cleaning, lighting, fountain maintenance, and storm drain upkeep.
  • Supervise contractors and act as park ambassador.
Event Support
  • Support park programming and event setup, including space conversions and logistics.
  • Participate in event planning meetings and coordinate vendor deliveries.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum 1-year experience in groundskeeping or custodial work.
  • Experience with horticultural environments and native plants.
  • Ability to operate various tools and equipment, including lifts and chainsaws.
  • Customer service skills and ability to work professionally with the public.
  • Strong relationship-building and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Zoom, Asana, Slack, and internet research.
  • Valid Washington driver’s license and ability to pass background checks.
WORKING CONDITIONS

Primarily outdoor work with indoor spaces; involves working at heights, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working with hazardous chemicals.
