Job summary

AEG is seeking an Optometric Technician to work with Optometrists and deliver exceptional patient care. You will conduct pre-testing, assist with specialty testing, manage the doctor’s appointment schedule, and ensure efficient, high-quality experiences for every patient.

The role involves preliminary patient evaluations, verbal interviews, scheduling referrals, maintaining HIPAA-compliant records, and assisting with Electronic Health Records (EHR) documentation.

Qualifications

• Experience evaluating patients for eye exams and dispensing eye exam medications.
• Familiarity with medical terms associated with eye treatment.
• Industry certification (CPO, CPOA, CPOT).

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary evaluations of patients before exam by the Optometrist, such as dilation, topicals, diagnostic medications, Optomap, auto refractor, visual acuity.
• May be required to schedule referral appointments with Ophthalmologists and other specialty referrals, and complete paperwork.
• Records and maintain patient records / files in compliance with HIPAA and policies.
• Responds to patient inquiries regarding medications, treatments, and referrals.
