Job summary

Qualifications

• 5+ years of manufacturing experience.
• Ability to edit programs for CNC equipment.
• Ability to follow simple written and verbal instructions.
• Good understanding of blueprint reading with regards to machining diameters (ID & OD) surfaces and simple shapes.
• Must be able to machine parts to specified tolerance and use simple measuring devices like micrometers and depth micrometers to measure the part.
• Ability to routinely lift 50 lbs or more on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

• Sets up and operates conventional and special purpose machines to fabricate metallic parts.
• Applies knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics, machinability of materials and layout techniques.
• Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations and set up requirements.
• Measures, marks and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent machining.
• Selects, aligns and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments and materials on machine.
• Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed and depth of cut.
• Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls as required.
• Sets up and operates machine on a trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings.
• Verifies dimensions using measuring instruments, such as micrometers, height gauges and gauge blocks.
• May confer with engineers, production personnel or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
• Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
• Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
