Responsibilities

• Sets up and operates conventional and special purpose machines to fabricate metallic parts.
• Applies machine shop theory and procedures to determine dimensions and tolerances.
• Measures and marks dimensions for subsequent machining.
• Selects fixtures and tools, secures materials on machines.
• Calculates and sets machine controls for speed and depth of cut.
• starts and observes machine operation, detects malfunctions, adjusts controls.
• Verifies dimensions with micrometers, height gauges, and gauge blocks.
• Maintains safe operations and performs routine equipment maintenance.
