Experienced Home Infusion Collection Specialist

Advanced Infusion Care specializes in intravenous (IV) and subcutaneous (Sub Q) immunoglobulin therapy patient care. AIC is looking for an experienced and motivated Accounts Receivable Collection expert to join our dynamic team! This position is a remote role, but local candidates to the DFW area may work from the office. The AR Collection role is a full-time position responsible for collection processes, including contract analysis, reimbursement, denial management, appeals, and resolving billing-related issues with insurance companies or other responsible parties for services rendered.

The ideal candidate should have outstanding communication skills, in-depth knowledge of collection practices, and work in compliance with Federal and State rules, regulations, and policies related to billing and collection activities.

Education and Experience:

  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • 3-5 years of healthcare industry experience required.
  • 3-5 years of medical billing and collections experience required.
  • Home Infusion experience is preferred.
  • CPR and CareTend experience is a plus.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Recognize patients’ rights and responsibilities and support them while respecting their privacy and confidentiality.
  • Follow up on invoices to ensure prompt payment and escalate issues as necessary.
  • Evaluate payments and denials for correctness and ensure proper application.
  • Identify bad debt write-offs and A/R adjustments, initiating these in accordance with policies.
  • Identify overpayments or duplicate payments, investigate, and resolve accordingly.
  • Process refund requests per policies and procedures.
  • Maintain contact with other departments to obtain necessary patient or insurance information.
  • Understand all procedures within regulatory mandates.
  • Ensure collection activities comply with Federal, State, and payer regulations and guidelines.
  • Verify billing accounts against the accounts receivable ledger to ensure all payments are properly posted.
  • Troubleshoot payment discrepancies via phone calls and establish resolutions.
  • Document all communications thoroughly, including phone calls and call details.
  • Identify areas to maximize claim reimbursement.
  • Resolve denial issues within 5 days of receipt.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines.
  • Maintain knowledge of NDC numbers, infusion supplies, and relevant medical codes.
  • Share knowledge with team members and work collaboratively.
  • Interact positively, respectfully, and considerately with others.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Understanding of Revenue Cycle Management functions and their integration.
  • Good judgment and problem-solving skills within legal and regulatory frameworks.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong work ethic, integrity, and credibility.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information respecting HIPAA privacy guidelines.
  • Proficiency with ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to lead in a dynamic environment with changing priorities.
  • Effective communication with patients, physicians, and staff.
  • Self-directed, detail-oriented, organized, and diligent.
  • Ability to train and organize work for others.
  • Effective at problem-solving involving multiple variables.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships.
  • Tolerant of interruptions and distractions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
