Job summary

TAG - The Aspen Group in the United States is hiring an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant to support dental care teams. You will assist with patient flow, aid doctors in procedures, and ensure operatory readiness and infection control.

The role requires current dental assisting licensure, radiology certification, CPR/BLS, and 2+ years of chairside experience. Competitive benefits and ongoing training are included.

Qualifications

• Must hold current Dental Assistant license.
• State radiology/x-ray certification as required.
• Current CPR or BLS certification.
• 2+ years' experience as a Dental Assistant.
• Proficient at chairside assisting/four-handed dentistry.
• Maintain annual CE requirement as specified by state.
• State Certification in expanded functions as required by state.

Responsibilities

• Assist with directing the DA office team to maintain productive patient flow.
• Assist the doctors during a variety of treatment procedures.
• Breakdown operatory rooms for doctors and hygienists.
• Complete sterilization processes for equipment and operatory and ensure staff are trained on the process.
• Follow maintenance schedules for flushing waterlines/suction lines, autoclave, and compressor.
• Tray and operatory set-up for all procedures.
• Support patient charting for doctors.
• Train others to execute patient handoffs and monitor patient flow.
• Follow OSHA regulations and Aspen safety requirements, including HIPAA.
• Take dental radiographs (X-rays).
• Provide patients with instructions for oral care following treatment.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene strategies to maintain health.
• Complete denture relines and temporary crowns.
• Monitor and aid in management of laboratory cases.
• Perform quality intraoral health scan of patients under 5 minutes.
• Understand clear aligner process and teach.
• Take quality impressions and bite registrations.
• Perform expanded functions based on certification.
• Ensure emergency kits and oxygen tanks are maintained.
• Order and maintain supplies within practice budget.
• Perform various office tasks as necessary.
