Qualifications

• Current Dental Assistant license/registration as required by state.
• Radiology (x-ray) certification as required by state.
• Current CPR or BLS certificate.
• 2+ years’ experience as a Dental Assistant.
• Proficient at chairside assisting/four-handed dentistry.
• Demonstrate sterilization and infection control techniques.
• Maintain annual CE requirement as specified by state.
• State Certification in expanded functions as required by state.

Responsibilities

• Assist the DA office team to maintain productive patient flow.
• Assist doctors during a variety of treatment procedures.
• Breakdown operatory rooms after procedures.
• Complete sterilization of equipment and operatory; train staff on process.
• Follow maintenance schedules for waterlines, autoclave, and compressor.
• Tray and operatory set-up for all procedures.
• Support patient charting for doctors.
• Train others to execute patient handoffs and monitor flow.
• Follow OSHA guidelines and HIPAA requirements.
• Take dental radiographs.
• Provide post-treatment oral care instructions to patients.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene strategies.
• Complete denture relines and temporary crowns.
• Monitor and aid in management of laboratory cases.
• Perform intraoral health scans under 5 minutes.
• Understand clear aligner process and teaching.
• Take quality impressions and bite registrations.
• Perform expanded functions as certified.
• Maintain emergency kits and oxygen tanks.
• Order and maintain supplies per practice budget.
• Perform various office tasks as necessary.
