Job summary

Massachusetts Bay Community College in Greater Boston invites applications for an Executive Function Coach in the Accessibility Resources Center. The Coach will provide individualized academic coaching, help students strengthen executive function skills, and support their transition to college.

Reporting to the Director of Accessibility Resources, this position maintains a caseload, documents progress, and collaborates with ARC and other campus partners to promote student success.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology or closely related field with 3 years’ experience.
  • Experience in disability services, academic coaching, or executive function coaching.
  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Provide individualized academic coaching and executive function support to students.
  • Assess student strengths, barriers and support needs related to academic performance.
  • Assist students in developing key executive function skills such as organization, planning, prioritization, task initiation, self-monitoring and goal setting.
  • Establish goals and individualized action plans for success strategies with measurable outcomes.
  • Develop strategies for academic success including notetaking, test-taking strategies and study skills.
  • Support students in navigating the transition to college and understanding the expectations, the systems, and available resources.
  • Collaborate with ARC staff and other campus partners; provide consultation to faculty and staff.

Position Summary:

The ideal candidate will join a vibrant educational community and have adesire and ability to serve a population of students with various needs andbackgrounds. Reporting to the Director of Accessibility Resources, thisposition supports student success through individualized academic coaching,executive function skill development and holistic advising. The Executive Function Coach works withstudents registered with the Accessibility Resources Center. The Coach helps students strengthen executivefunction skills, develop effective learning strategies, build self-advocacyskills, and navigate the challenges with the transition to college. The Coachwill maintain an assigned coaching and advising caseload, monitor studentprogress and interventions, and collaborate with the ARC coaching staff andother campus partners.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

Provide individualized academic coaching and executivefunction support to students, including:

  • Assess student strengths,barriers and support needs related to academic performance;
  • Assist students indeveloping key executive function skills such as organizations, planningand prioritizing, task initiation, self-monitoring and goal setting;
  • Establish goals andindividualized action plans for success strategies with measurableoutcomes;
  • Develop strategies foracademic success including notetaking, test-taking strategies and studyskills;
  • Support students innavigating the transition to college and understanding the expectations,the systems, and available resources;
  • Help students developstrong communication, problem-solving and self-advocacy skills;
  • Accurately documentstudent interactions, referrals, progress notes and outcomes in designatedstudent information systems;
  • Provide consultation tofaculty and staff regarding executive function challenges and effectivestudent support strategies;
  • Developand facilitate workshops that focus on executive function skills that astime management, study skills, college readiness, self-advocacy, goalsetting, and success in online courses;
  • Analyzedata on student participation and outcomes in collaboration with ARC staff;
  • Maintainsprofessional knowledge of best practices in academic coaching, executivefunction support, and student success;
  • Performother duties and projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology orclosely related field; with three (3) years' experience and/or traininginvolving special education, disability services, academic coaching, orexecutive function coaching; or an equivalent combination of education,training, and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Sensitivity and commitment to the goals of Affinitive Action;
  • Experience working in a community college or similar environment;
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with students in need;
  • Knowledge of executive functioning, neurodiversity, learning disabilities and evidence-based coaching practices;
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to motivate students;
  • Comfortable with video conferencing, online learning platforms and general office applications;
  • Familiarity with Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and inclusive educational practices.

Additional Information: Salary Range: $72,265- $80,813, in accordance with one'seducation and experience as dictated by the collective bargaining agreementclassification compensation structure.
