Job summary

Massachusetts Bay Community College seeks an Executive Function Learning Specialist to support student success through coaching, executive function skill development, and holistic advising. The role reports to the Director of Accessibility Resources and serves students registered with the Accessibility Resources Center.

You will strengthen executive function skills, develop learning strategies, build self-advocacy, and maintain a coaching caseload while collaborating with ARC staff and campus

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology or closely related field; with three (3) years' experience and/or training involving special education, disability services, academic coaching, or executive function coaching; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assess student strengths, barriers and support needs related to academic performance.
  • Assist students in developing executive function skills such as organization, planning and prioritizing, task initiation, self-monitoring and goal setting.
  • Establish goals and individualized action plans for success strategies with measurable outcomes.
  • Develop strategies for academic success including notetaking, test-taking strategies and study skills.
  • Support students in navigating the transition to college and understanding the expectations, the systems, and available resources.
  • Help students develop communication, problem-solving and self-advocacy skills.
  • Document student interactions, referrals, progress notes and outcomes in designated student information systems.
  • Provide consultation to faculty and staff regarding executive function challenges and effective student support strategies.
  • Develop and facilitate workshops focusing on executive function skills such as time management, study skills, college readiness, self-advocacy and success in online courses.
  • Analyze data on student participation and outcomes in collaboration with ARC staff.
  • Maintain professional knowledge of best practices in academic coaching, executive function support, and student success.
  • Maintain an advising caseload.
