Job summary

The NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) is hiring three Executive Directors to lead the RAD teams that sift data, decode it, and turn it into evidence that wins in court.

You will supervise data scientists, technologists, and engineers who work with investigators and attorneys to hold businesses accountable to consumers and workers, report to the Associate Commissioner, and partner with senior leaders across DCWP.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a relevant field plus 4 years of professional experience in labor research and analysis, or
• Bachelor's degree plus 5 years of professional experience including 18 months in executive/managerial capacity, as described above
• Education/experience equivalent to the above with a baccalaureate degree and 18 months of executive experience

Responsibilities

• Casework: supervise technologists and data scientists on investigations and litigation; identify data needs; describe business practices, evaluate compliance, calculate damages; present findings to attorneys and in court.
• Product: decide what gets built; gather requirements with attorneys and case teams; design automated analytics products and support deployment.
• Engineering: lead engineers through design, testing and iteration of analytics products.
• Tech policy: advise leadership on technology policy; review laws and rules; push for protections with strong tech components.
• Team Management: hire, supervise, and develop your team.
