Job summary

New York City Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP)–Research And Analytics Division seeks three Executive Directors to lead teams of data scientists, technologists, and engineers in investigations and litigation. You will ensure data-driven insights and enforce consumer/workers protections while reporting to the Division's Associate Commissioner.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in business/public administration, economics, labor or industrial relations, statistics or a closely related field and four years of satisfactory full-time professional experience in labor research and analysis, employee benefit design and benefit program evaluation, compensation analysis, labor economics or economic planning; 18 months in an executive/ supervisory capacity.
• A bachelor's degree and five years of professional experience, including 18 months in executive/ supervisory capacity as described above.
• Education and/or experience equivalent to (1) or (2). However, all candidates must possess a bachelor's degree and 18 months of executive/ supervisory experience as described in (1).

Responsibilities

• Casework: supervise technologists and data scientists on investigations, determine data needs, and analyze to describe practices, evaluate compliance, and calculate damages; present findings in court or settlements.
• Product: decide what gets built; gather requirements and design automated analytics products; support deployment.
• Engineering: lead engineers through design, testing, and iteration of analytics products.
• Tech policy: advise leadership on technology policy; review laws to reflect what technology can support and enforce; push for protections with a tech component.
• Team Management: hire, supervise, and develop your team.

Education

Master's degree in business/public administration/economics/labor or industrial relations/statistics or closely related field

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college

Education and/or experience equivalent to the above, with a Bachelor's degree and 18 months of executive/managerial supervisory experience
