Job summary

The City of New York’s DCWP is seeking a City Research Scientist to join the Research and Analytics Division to advance data-driven enforcement and policy work. You will develop data collection and analysis systems, work with investigators and attorneys, and help translate technical findings into actionable regulatory insights.

This role requires advanced degrees and strong programming, analytics, and written communication skills, with opportunities to influence consumer and worker protection

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in physical, biological, environmental or public health fields.
  • Level II requires doctorate or master's with three years of research experience.
  • Two years as City Research Scientist Level I can be substituted.

Responsibilities

  • Identify data and documentation to evaluate compliance with NYC worker and consumer protection laws.
  • Coordinate with businesses’ counsel to obtain responsive data and documentation.
  • Develop data analysis tools to describe practices and calculate damages.
  • Advise leadership on technology regulation and related policy areas.
  • Conduct research and draft reports on emerging technologies and their impact.
  • Develop tools and training to aid investigators in gathering evidence.
