Job summary

Marriott Phoenix Airport is seeking a dynamic Sales & Catering Manager to generate revenue by selling and coordinating group meetings, events, and social functions at the hotel. You will prospect new clients, manage event logistics, and ensure a seamless client experience in collaboration with the Director of Sales and operations.

You will coordinate proposals, tours, and post-event follow-ups, while maintaining a strong sales pipeline and accurate activity records to drive growth.

Qualifications

• Previous hotel sales, catering, event planning, or hospitality experience preferred.
• Proven ability to generate leads, close business, and develop lasting client relationships.
• Experience preparing sales proposals, contracts, event orders, and revenue reports.
• Strong organizational, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple events, client requests, and deadlines simultaneously.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Familiarity with hotel property management systems, sales CRM platforms, and catering software preferred.
• Professional appearance, positive attitude, and commitment to exceptional customer service.
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve revenue goals for group rooms, catering, meetings, and events.
• Solicit new business via prospecting, cold calling, networking, referrals, site visits, and community involvement.
• Build relationships with corporate clients, local businesses, government agencies, sports groups, wedding planners, and others.
• Manage existing accounts to encourage repeat business and long-term relationships.
• Respond to sales inquiries, RFPs, and leads promptly.
• Prepare proposals, contracts, banquet event orders, and other sales documents on time.
• Conduct property tours and client presentations of facilities and services.
• Negotiate rates, minimums, room rental, concessions, terms within hotel guidelines.
• Maintain an active sales pipeline and accurate records of activities and bookings.
• Monitor market trends and opportunities to identify revenue growth.
• Coordinate all aspects of catered events from booking to completion.
• Gather client requirements (timelines, setup, A/V, menu, dietary restrictions).
• Prepare and distribute BEOs and event details to hotel departments.
• Communicate event requirements to F&B, Banquets, Front Office, Housekeeping, Engineering.
• Conduct pre-event planning meetings and follow-ups.
• Oversee event coordination to meet client expectations and standards.
• Serve as primary contact for clients and resolve concerns promptly.
• Review billing for accuracy and coordinate final invoice and payment follow-up.
• Conduct post-event follow-ups to obtain feedback and repeat business.
• Manage group room blocks, pickup reports, cutoff dates, and group-related requirements with Front Office and Reservations.
• Ensure contracts, room rates, attrition, cancellation terms, and billing are documented.
• Track group pickup and event revenue to maximize production.
• Coordinate VIP arrangements and group arrival with hotel operations.
• Communicate changes in group requirements promptly to departments.
