Job summary

Covenant House New Jersey seeks a Youth Engagement Specialist for evening hours in Newark. You will support youth through strength-based, trauma-informed engagement and case management, helping them move toward housing and personal goals while coordinating with a multidisciplinary team.

The role emphasizes crisis de-escalation, documentation, group activities, and connecting youth with community resources, with an emphasis on respectful, unconditional support and safety.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills with concise, timely and professional written and verbal correspondence.
• Ability to work well in a team and foster positive rapport with youth.
• Self-motivation and collaborative mindset with adaptability to daily tasks.

Responsibilities

• Engage and provide case management to youth to support housing, health, wellness, education and employment goals.
• Maintain documentation in HMIS/ETO and other databases; prepare for case review meetings.
• Facilitate group activities and coordinate with community resources and referrals.
