Job summary

G&W Electric is seeking a Welder II for the 2nd shift (1:00pm to 9:30pm) in Bolingbrook, IL. You will assemble, fit, and weld subassemblies using MIG/TIG processes, read drawings, and ensure quality before parts move to the next operation.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, at least one year welding training, and three years in a manufacturing environment, with the ability to use hand and power tools and read BOMs. Safety and teamwork are emphasized in this role.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or equivalent work experience.
• At least one year of formal welding training or equivalent.
• Three years of welding experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to safely use small hand and power tools, measuring tools, air tools and welding equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and Bills of Materials.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to perform Mig and Tig welding in various positions.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, align, square up, fit, stiffen and tack weld subassemblies and assemblies of moderate to advanced complexity using standard welding equipment.
• Fit parts using torch, carbon arc, or grinding equipment to facilitate alignment.
• Set up and regulate pressure for oxyacetylene torch; select electrode size and welding consumables as required.
• Regulate gas, current and voltage for proper penetration and fusion of metals; inspect finished welds.
