Job summary

G&W Electric in Bolingbrook seeks a Welder II for our manufacturing facility to assemble, align, and weld subassemblies of moderate to advanced complexity using MIG and TIG welding. You will read drawings and inspect work to ensure quality, while following strict safety procedures and maintaining equipment.

The role requires 3 years of welding experience in a manufacturing environment, plus the ability to train others and work across positions. A comprehensive benefits package is offered.

Qualifications

• Holds a High School diploma, GED or equivalent work experience.
• Has at least one year of formal welding training or the equivalent level of experience.
• Has 3 years of welding experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Must be able to safely use small hand and power tools, measuring tools, air tools and welding equipment.
• Must be able to read and interpret drawings and Bills of Material.
• Must have basic computer skills.
• Must be able to perform Mig and Tig welding in various positions.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, align, square up, fit, stiffen and tack weld a variety of subassemblies and assemblies of moderate to advanced complexity using tools and fixtures.
• Fit parts using torch or carbon arc or hand grinding equipment to facilitate alignment and assembly.
• Set up and regulate pressure for oxyacetylene torch and regulate current/voltage.
• Sel ect electrode size and type, tips, and welding rod or wire as required.
• Inspect all work and ensure it meets requirements prior to passing to the next operation.
