Job summary

The Program Assistant at Don's Place in Auburn, WA helps maintain a safe, supportive environment for guests and staff, delivering trauma-informed assistance and coordinating with the program services team.

You will monitor activity, assist with meals and chores, help participants access referrals, and support crisis de-escalation while following agency policies and safety procedures. This is a unionized, onsite role with evening shifts.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience in a social/human service setting (preferred).
• Fluent ability to read, write, and understand English.
• Familiarity with housing instability, mental health, and related topics is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide trauma-informed monitoring of activity to ensure safety, security, and comfort for guests/residents/participants and staff.
• Mediate conflicts and provide de-escalation and crisis intervention; refer to appropriate services as needed.
• Assist in program activities, including meal services and laundry assistance.
• Engage guests/residents/participants to assess needs and provide information and referrals.
• Respond to issues as directed by program management or property management.
• Log actions, incidents, and report to the Program Coordinator/Manager.
