Job summary

Pillars, Inc. in Appleton, WI is seeking a part-time Crisis Housing Shelter Advocate for the second shift (4pm–11:30pm).

You will support adults and families, assist with intake, and help ensure a safe, welcoming environment for clients and volunteers. Responsibilities include completing intake and HMIS entries, coordinating with community partners, distributing medications, organizing donations, and helping with meals.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of barriers facing homelessness.
• Experience with survivors of domestic violence is preferred.
• Experience with mental health challenges and addictions is helpful.
• Knowledge of community resources for low-income or homeless individuals.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the point of contact for clients, volunteers and visitors.
• Complete client intake, assess eligibility, and enter data into HMIS.
• Maintain accurate logs and conduct exit interviews when applicable.
• Assist with daily activities and medication distribution; provide resources.
• Collaborate with staff and community partners to ensure continuum of care.
• Support onboarding and training of new staff and volunteers.
• Maintain building safety, cleanliness and policy adherence.
• Handle donations and meal prep as needed.
