Job summary

Responsibilities

• Maintains oversight and responsible supervision of guests using the emergency drop-in shelter facility.
• Demonstrates crisis de-escalation and active listening skills.
• Assists in orientation of new and returning guests and answers questions.
• Follows procedures regarding guest behavior, incident reporting, and general operation.
• Distributes blankets, towels and sheets to guests.
• Monitors the immediate needs of shelter guests and assists as appropriate.
• Provides for an equitable distribution of stock food when volunteers cancel.
• Recommends guests to Shelter Case Managers for referrals to counseling and social services.
• Assists in overseeing washing of blankets and general up-keep.
• Opens/closes shelter punctually and ensures facility security.
