Job summary

Washington County Public Schools is seeking a Custodian for Rockland Woods Elementary School to support a 12-month, 2nd shift operation. The position operates under the ESP salary scale (Grade 4) and reports to the Facilities Operations Manager.

Work hours are 4 hours per day with a strong emphasis on safety and upkeep of school facilities. Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or GED and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks, with preferred experience in cleaning and

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
• Able to climb stairs and ladders, carry loads, shovel snow, operate gas-powered equipment.
• Ability to follow oral or simple written instructions.
• Willingness to participate in in-service training programs.
• Regular and predictable attendance is required.
• Ability to perform essential functions with or without accommodations.

Responsibilities

• Perform custodial tasks such as scrubbing, mopping, sweeping, waxing, and dusting using hand or mechanical tools.
• Provide a presence to deter theft and protect the school against trespassers.
• Inspect and monitor the heating/air conditioning system as scheduled.
• Assist with minor emergency repairs as needed.
• Clean and care for the school grounds.
• Maintain work records and inventory of custodial equipment and supplies; reorder when necessary.
• Demonstrate courteous and professional demeanor to all stakeholders.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
