Job summary

GBMC HealthCare is seeking a Phlebotomy Lab Assistant to provide phlebotomy and accessioning services, document clinical data, and support patient care in a fast-paced hospital lab environment. The role involves collecting specimens, processing, and reporting results while maintaining data integrity and patient safety.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma and 6 months of phlebotomy and accessioning experience, with strong communication and computer skills, including Meditech.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Six months phlebotomy and six months accessioning experience preferred.
• Proven ability to document accurately and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Draw blood from patients of all ages following aseptic methods.
• Document all phlebotomy rounds and outpatient callbacks accurately.
• Enter patient demographics and test orders; verify specimen receipt.
• Prepare and process specimens for testing; label, aliquot, centrifuge as needed.
• Maintain donor room QC, perform routine equipment and counters disinfection.
• Ensure timely transport of specimens and accurate data entry in Meditech.
