Job summary

Mercy Medical Center Emergency Department is seeking a Patient Access Representative for a full-time role. You will handle pre-registration, registration and admission, verify insurance requirements, and collect co-pays while ensuring accurate entries in the Meditech system.

Orientation is two weeks on the day shift, with a 3:00 PM–11:30 PM schedule including every other weekend. Great benefits start on day one, with pay in the $17–$24 hourly range based on experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; college preferred.
• Medical terminology skills required.
• Experience in medical office or patient registration preferred.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Verify insurance requirements.
• Responsible for upfront collections, co-pays and high deductibles.
• Ensure accurate demographic, financial and advanced directives entries.
• Collect non-covered fees.
• Inputs data into Meditech system.
• Complete all phases of registration, including papers, bracelets, rights and proxy information.
• Coordinate bed assignment and manage death books; relay information to funeral homes.
