Job summary

Trinity Health at Mercy Medical Center Emergency Department is seeking a part-time Patient Access Representative to manage pre-registration, registration and admission functions, ensuring smooth patient flow.

The role requires verifying insurance, collecting payments, and maintaining accurate demographic and clinical information in the Meditech system. Training/orientation is full-time Mon-Fri for 2-3 weeks to acclimate new staff.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent; college preferred.
• Medical terminology skills.
• Experience in medical office, hospital, or patient registration preferred.
• Excellent customer service and verbal communication required.

Responsibilities

• Verify insurance requirements.
• Responsible for upfront collections, co-pays and high deductibles.
• Ensure accurate demographic, financial, and advance directives entries.
• Collect non-covered fees.
• Input data into Meditech system.
• Complete all phases of registration; patient bracelets, rights, and proxy info.
• Coordinate bed assignment and release information to funeral homes.
