Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Worcester, MA is seeking a Registration Specialist for the 3PM–11:30PM evening shift. This on-site role handles patient registration, insurance verification, scheduling and basic billing tasks in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Under supervision, you will collect demographics, verify coverage, obtain pre-authorizations, schedule tests, and assist with admissions and transfers while upholding HIPAA and standards of respect.

Qualifications

• Proficient data-entry skills with attention to detail.
• Must have computer skills including Windows navigation.
• Customer service skills with internal and external customers.
• Ability to work in a high volume, team-oriented environment.
• English speaking, reading and writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Accurately obtains and enters demographic, insurance and other related patient information.
• Verifies patient insurance coverage and coordinates pre-authorization and referrals.
• Schedules radiology, lab and basic ancillary service appointments.
• Completes demographic/insurance data for Emergency Department and Labor & Delivery.
• Coordinates provision of multiple services for patients and handles patient payments.
• Maintains accurate records, logs, and related information.
