Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Patient Access Specialist in New Jersey to manage inpatient and outpatient access workflows. You will interview patients for identity verification, demographics, and eligibility, while coordinating scheduling, registration, insurance verification, and financial clearance under supervision.

Comfort with rotating schedules and holidays is expected. The role requires basic medical terminology knowledge, strong customer service skills, and experience with EPIC

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree or related experience preferred.
• Ability to work rotating shifts and weekends as needed.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; strong customer service orientation.
• Basic medical terminology knowledge; proficient computer skills.
• Experience with EPIC systems and healthcare software is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Handle inpatient and outpatient patient access functions in assigned hospital areas.
• Conduct patient interviews to verify identity and gather demographics.
• Screen Medicare/Medicaid and managed care patients for network status and benefits.
• Obtain consents/attestations and perform scheduling, registration, and insurance verification.
• Maintain quality standards and deliver a positive patient experience.
