Job summary

Phoenix Children's Hospital, Inc. seeks a Medical Laboratory Scientist II to join the Avondale ED lab as a generalist on a 0.9 FTE evening/overnight shift (5pm–5:30am) with rotating weekends. The MLS II performs full range of standard to specialized laboratory tests and ensures quality and safety compliance.

The role reports to the lab supervisor and requires flexibility for variable scheduling. The candidate should have CLIA high complexity training, MLS certification and laboratory experience

Qualifications

• Graduate of CLIA-compliant Clinical Laboratory Science program or equivalent.
• Current nationally recognized certification (ASCP or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Prepares clear, technically sound reports of test results for patient treatment decisions.
• Performs chemical, microbiologic, hematologic, and/or immunohematologic procedures as required.
• Participates in evaluation/development of new procedures, instrumentation and quality initiatives.
• Maintains competency through current literature, practices and new developments in medical technology.
• Troubleshoots instrument problems and test result issues to determine causes and validity.
• Assists peers with work assignments and performs miscellaneous duties as requested.

Education

Clinical Laboratory Science program graduate
