Job summary

Phoenix Children's is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist II to join the Avondale lab team. This 0.9 FTE evening/overnight shift (5pm–5:30am) offers a rotating weekend schedule and opportunities to work across chemistry, microbiology, hematology, and immunohematology procedures.

The MLS II performs standard, complex and specialized tests, ensures data validity, and participates in new methods and instrument evaluation under supervision. Strong QC and regulatory compliance are essential.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Clinical Laboratory Science program from an accredited institution or an equivalent combination of post-secondary education and work experience (as specified in the CLIA regulations for high complexity testing personnel).
• Clinical laboratory experience.
• Current nationally recognized certification (ASCP or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Prepares clear, technically sound reports of standard, complex and specialized test results for patient treatment decisions.
• Participates in evaluation/development of new procedures, instrumentation and quality improvement initiatives.
• Maintains professional competency by staying current with literature and practice developments.
• Performs standard, complex and specialized patient testing and quality control testing of samples.
• Troubleshoots instrument malfunctions and validates results to ensure accurate data.
