Job summary

Phoenix Children's Hospital is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician/Scientist to join the Blood Bank team in Phoenix. Blood bank testing experience is required.

This 0.9 FTE position is hourly, day shift from 5:00 am to 5:30 pm with rotating weekends. The MLS II will perform and interpret standard, complex and specialized tests, ensure quality control, and participate in the implementation of new procedures and instruments under supervision.

Qualifications

• Blood bank testing experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare reports of test results for patient treatment decisions.
• Perform chemical, microbiologic, immunologic, hematologic, and immunohematologic tests.
• Participate in development of new procedures and quality improvement initiatives.
• Maintain competency by staying current with literature and practices.
• Plan testing techniques based on findings and protocols.
• Troubleshoot instrument malfunctions and ensure safe operation.
• Assist peers with workload.
• Perform miscellaneous duties as requested.
